Parkour, though difficult to explain without experiencing can be summarized
as an Urban Acrobatic Artform that was developed by French navel officers to teach
people how to get over, around, under, or through physical obstacles in a fast efficient
manner. It involves utilizing natural physical skills such as climbing, vaulting,
jumping, balancing, crawling, and running. Parkour then takes these natural
skills and adapts them to the urban jungle. Most of Parkour is physical training
that helps people get in touch with themselves and others. You could say it
develops long lasting friendships and comradery through vigorous regimes and
supportive peers.
Parkour, though a male dominated sport works for every gender. Many people who
practice Parkour also practice other physical art forms such as martial arts,
dance, competitive sports, gymnastics, and rock climbing. Parkour is a sport that
is sweeping the world and is used to physically and mentally prepare people
for movement of all kinds in the urban environment.
Parkour, though incredibly physical also develops critical thinking skills and
problem solving abilities. Parkour will give you real time strength. Parkour’s
progression and use of body weight helps to strengthen the body as a whole useing
all muscle groups to allow them to be useful when you need them most. Parkour
improves immune system response, cardivascular health, bone density, flexability,
coordination, core stability, balance, and strength. Parkour also improves self
confidence through achievemnt of different tasks and allows one to have total body
control. When you see the world through a stable lense everything is an opportunity
and there are no obstacles of any kind.
An intense progressive training regime for ages 9-adult that builds character,
discipline, creativity, physical prowess and most of all mental control of the
physical body.
